The Professional Edition (PE) continues to build on the AD tools and features of the Standard Edition by adding multiple levels of delegation, group management and help desk features. Unlimited menu items can contain multiple applications that are available only to authorized individuals. Enhanced delegation utilizes role-based access to present users with only those menus and views that they are authorized to see. rDirectory's Professional Edition provides AD tools and expands your ability to leverage the full potential of Active Directory.
The Professional Edition features include:
- Help Desk features include delegation of password resets to help desk operators. And, when used with Namescape's MyPassword, operators can use the MyPassword profile to validate the user's identity. Account management functions such as Unlock, Disable or Delete allow help desk staff to perform these tasks without granting them administrative rights to AD tools. Email notifications can be generated for these events so administrators are always on top of potential password reset issues.
- Group Management features apply to both the help desk and users. Delegate group management to help desk staff so they can add and delete users from groups. Users who are Group Managers can be authorized to add and delete members of their groups.
- Self-subscription to groups is a time-saving feature that allows a user to view a list of all the distribution groups that he/she can join, subscribe to that group, and receive email notifications of group activity. Conversely, users can remove themselves from distribution groups when they no longer wish to be a member.
- Self-subscription to query based distribution lists enables users to search for employees who match specific criteria and send a query-based email to just those users. Employees effectively subscribe or unsubscribe to and from these groups by editing the attributes in their profile that match the query.
