Five Minutes with Mike

You may be familiar with the term “password filtering” – meaning a way to sort through password combinations and filter out passwords that do not meet complexity or compliance requirements.

Simply put, it is a tool that helps enforce stronger passwords. And, who doesn’t need more security in today’s virtual world?

Mike Dodson, director of engineering at Namescape, gives us five minutes and explains how password filtering came to be, how it works and why it is so important.

Customer Spotlight

Namescape Customer - Cushman & Wakefield

Customer: Cushman & Wakefield; the world’s largest privately held commercial real estate services firm; 230 offices in 58 countries and 15,000 employees worldwide

Their challenges:

After implementing ITIL practices, C&W needed to securely delegate permissions to first line staff in order to de-centralize new user account creation and provisioning.
Audit requirements dictated that new accounts must have a unique employee ID assigned by Human Resources and an internal ticket number produced by the ticketing system. This process could not be implemented using standard AD tools.

Their solution: C&W employed rDirectory, mPowerTools and joBot for a complete Namescape solution.
